Book a Project Conversation

If you’re responsible for a place that needs identity, connection, or public understanding, this page explains how commissioning works, and what happens next.

Commissioning a public artwork rarely starts with a finished brief. It starts with a conversation about the place, the people who use it, and what the project needs to achieve.

What I Do

I create site-specific public artworks that help places feel recognised, navigable, and worth caring about.

Using a structured mythmaking process; combining local research, community participation, and narrative design, I translate local history and lived experience into contemporary visual landmarks.

The work supports Placemaking Outcomes such as:

Identity and Belonging

Wayfinding and Visibility

Community Buy-in

Public Understanding of Change

Long-term Relevance in the Public Realm

How Commissioning Works

The process is collaborative, structured, and designed to reduce risk.

1. Project Conversation

We begin with a conversation about your site, objectives, constraints, and stakeholders. If we’re a good fit we can start the development process, if we’re not, there’s no obligations and we can part ways.

2. Research & Story Development

I gather context through site research, local history, and, where appropriate, community engagement, identifying stories already embedded in the place.

3. Design & Direction

Concepts are developed with clear checkpoints, allowing stakeholders to review and refine direction before anything is locked in.

4. Delivery

The artwork is produced on site using professional materials and specialist finishes, with experience working on live public spaces and complex logistics.

5. Legacy

The finished work becomes part of the place’s identity, designed to endure, be understood, and be cared for over time.

What You Can Expect

☑ Experience working on live public and civic sites ☑
☑ Clear stakeholder and approval checkpoints ☑
☑ Community engagement where it adds genuine value ☑
☑ Durable materials and specialist protective finishes ☑
☑ Calm delivery within real-world constraints ☑

Your Story, Told Your Way. Guaranteed.

Collaborative from the ground up: the story is co-created with the people who know the place best, so the final work is locally owned, not imposed.

No generic concepts: the narrative is unique to the site and its people

Clear checkpoints: set milestones so stakeholders can review direction before paint touches the wall

Designed for impact: the artwork supports identity, engagement, and legacy, not just aesthetics

Collaboration is central to the process.

Community voice is included where it meaningfully strengthens the work, not as a tick-box exercise.
